Conditions are estimates from USGS data. Always assess on-site conditions and use your own judgment.
USGS 10346000 (Truckee River at Farad, CA) is the canonical primary gauge for the Truckee because it is the ONLY Truckee candidate publishing BOTH 00060 discharge AND 00010 water temperature with current data — the Tahoe City (10337500) and near-Truckee (10338000) gauges report flow only, so a temperature-driven verdict (RIVER-04, with its 65/68 °F thresholds and trout-stress suppression) could never compute on them and they would permanently render the "temperature unavailable" state. Farad sits near the CA/NV line on the lower Truckee — the heavily-fished tailwater-style section below Boca/Stampede that anglers driving from Reno target — and it is a long-record USGS gauge. Hand-curated per DATA-08 / Pitfall #2: the primary gauge is never auto-selected; a human picks the gauge that best represents the river section anglers fish.
